Updated the system to the latest patch cluster release

Monday, July 20, 2009 - Kendal
Last night we updated the system to the latest patch cluster (cluster 5) to fix a couple of issues. The staff client needs an update as well as a result of this update. The Files and Things page has the latest version of workflows linked there. Also we send out the update file via Gmail to each library’s address. You can get the file from there, rename it as outlined in the email, and run that. Either will work. New machines must install using the software in Files and Things.

Please say "Hello" to JT

Friday, May 15, 2009 - Kendal
I hope everyone will say hello to our new hire Jonathan Emert who will go by JT to reduce confusion. He fills our open System Administrator / Night Support position and gets RSA fully staffed once again. JT has a strong background both in computers and customer service and is an excellent fit with the rest of the RSA Staff.

JT is working daytime hours until Jon W. and I are confident he’s ready to move to nights. He willthen work noon - 8 pm. In addition to providing night support and working on the servers, we are also turning over the day to day work on the parameters as well. He’ll be getting his fingers into everything else over time.

You can contact him at extention 2136 or email him at jemert@alliancelibrarysystem.com.

New member of RSA

Monday, March 09, 2009 - Kendal
It is with great pleasure that I introduce Erica Laughlin as the new RSA Database Coordinator. Erica is a new MLS librarian and we think she is going to fit in great here at RSA and at ALS. We will be getting her setup and up to speed on the cataloging portion of RSA and eventually more things. She will become the keeper of the catalog, responsible for updating, fixing, cleaning, etc all the records. Martha will supervise Erica and ensure things run smoothly.

If you didn't get a chance to meet Erica at Users Group last Thursday, feel free to stop in and introduce yourself next time you are in the office. She is in the office between DiAnn and Sandy, across from the computer lab.

DiAnn is leaving RSA

Monday, March 09, 2009 - Kendal
To go with the good news of Erica joining RSA we have some bad news as well. DiAnn will be leaving RSA to pursue other opportunities. The night support hours have become much harder to work with a new baby and she needs something different. We all wish her good luck in the future and thank her for her work for RSA and all our member libraries. DiAnn's last day will be the 27th of March.

Jon and I will be updating the position description to better cover the duties required of this position. We will be advertising the position starting tomorrow or Wednesday. The position will continue to be the night support position working noon-8pm.
