ILLINET Interlibrary Loan Code
Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States
The primary goal of the Alliance Library System's Interlibrary Loan & Reference Service is to promote the self-sufficiency of the ALS member libraries. The ALS Interlibrary Loan & Reference Service facilitates the requests of ALS member libraries that are beyond the scope of each member library's bibliographic capabilities. ALS members are required to initiate direct resource sharing transactions utilizing these bibliographic resources:
RSA (Resource Sharing Alliance), the regional LLSAP (Local Library System Automation Program) for ALS
I-SHARE,
the consortium of over 70 academic libraries in Illinois (formerly IO)
OCLC
FirstSearch, the OCLC database package provided by the Illinois State Library
System teams, including Automation & Technology and Information Services, share in the training responsibilities for developing ALS members into effective resource sharing partners. ALS members receive training and consulting that includes information abaout resource sharing principles and protocols, access to and use of bibliographic databases, and strategic directions for Interlibrary Loan services at the regional, state, and national levels.
